SOLD OUT!
June 2008 ushered in a new era of mobile communications. Apple’s concurrent launch of the 3G iPhone and iTunes App Store were instrumental to the formation of a game-changing mobile ecosystem backed by seamless access to mobile content, mobile applications and mobile commerce.

Since the creation of Apple’s mobile ecosystem, hundreds of thousands of mobile apps have been developed, billions of apps have been downloaded and countless numbers of mobile use-cases have been created. The change has been so profound that industry titans such as Google, Amazon, Nokia, Research in Motion (RIM) and Microsoft are all now pursuing Apple-like models of their own. What has all of this innovation and change meant for the digital signage industry?

The new Mobile Technology and Its Implications for Digital Signage conference will attempt to answer this question. Industry experts on the convergence of mobile technologies with digital signage will discuss their real-world convergent implementations and share with event attendees lessons learned — both good and bad.

"Mobile Engagement and Digital Signage" - David Saleme

2:30pm - 3:00pm

Presenter

David Saleme
Concessions Manager
Columbus Regional Airport Authority

More than 80 percent of passengers in an airport environment carry smart phones; therefore, it is important for a facility owner to grab their attention and break through the smart phone cocoon. This presentation will discuss how to engage and provide relevant information to these users through: 1) changing facility amenities, 2) utilizing the existing signage network (both static & digital), and 3) developing interactive kiosks to provide information and even connect users easily to social media.

In this session, you will…
1. Learn how to utilize your existing digital signage to connect with the mobile phone user
2. Learn how current digital signage is used to increase information flow to mobile users
3. Learn how to utilize interactive digital signage to pull mobile users out of their cocoon to engage with the facility "directory"

David Saleme joined the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA) in October 1996. He was hired under the General Counsel's office, with a focus on concessions and real estate. Throughout his time with CRAA, he has been responsible for terminal and concession development at Port Columbus International Airport, which includes terminal advertising and marketing. Saleme is primarily responsible for managing the in-airport advertising program, which includes, in addition to the award-winning 72-screen video wall system, more than 20 additional digital advertising screens throughout the terminal, including multiple advertising-supported interactive digital courtesy phone kiosks and the external digital billboard program.

Saleme's other efforts at Port Columbus International Airport include the negotiating and drafting of concession agreements, bid packages, requests for proposal, land and building leases, airline lease amendments, minimum standards and other agreements with a broad spectrum of airport tenants and operators.

Indoor Positioning Technologies: New Paradigms for Engagement and Marketing

Indoor positioning technology is about more than navigation and showering location-based coupons. In a way never before possible, indoor positioning systems (IPS) enable the intersection of the virtual world and the physical world. The user's mobile phone triggers personalized, location-specific, augmented reality situations, such as 3D holograms or messages on digital signs. This opens dramatic new possibilities for visitor engagement with venues, brands and retailers. Philip Stanger, CEO of Wifarer Inc., will discuss the evolution and the future of Indoor Positioning Technologies, with a focus on customer engagement, ROI and the interaction of mobile phones with digital signage.

In this session, you will…

1. Gain insight into the pros and cons of different IPS technologies (including Google Indoors)
2. Learn how to evaluate methods of generating revenue from IPS
3. Learn how to assess if IPS technologies are appropriate for your venue

Philip Stanger is the CEO & co-founder of Wifarer Inc., a global leader in Indoor Positioning System (IPS) technologies. He manages Wifarer's strategic direction and works with its developers to refine and enhance its technology. Stanger has over 20 years' experience in high tech, and is recognized as a thought leader and pioneer in the field of IPS. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Arts from Yale University.
